EFCC Arrests 24 Suspected Internet Fraud Trainees At Yahoo Academy In Uyo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested twenty-four suspected internet fraudsters being trained for internet crimes in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to a press release by the EFCC through its spokesman, Dele Oyewale, the suspects were arrested on Monday by the operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Commission at a storey building suspected to be a criminal hideout for training internet fraudsters.

Oyewale said: “The all-male suspects were arrested in two locations in an intelligence-driven sting operation at D-Line Ewet Housing Estate and Nelson Mandela area both in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

“They were rounded up at the upper floor of the storey building that looked like a classroom hall with chairs, tables, laptops and notepads on each table.

“The building is allegedly being used solely for the training of youths in various aspects of cyber criminality.”

The spokesman also noted that items recovered from the premises and the suspects include: five exotic cars; 18 laptops; 17 mobile phones and one internet router.
