White Paper: Osun APC Urges Tinubu To Stop Gov Adeleke From ‘Silencing’ Opposition Leaders

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to the aid of its members over alleged plots by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government to unleash terror on them.

The APC made a similar appeal to heads of security agencies in the country, particularly Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.

Speaking through its chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, the party said: “The call was necessary to nip in the bud the plot of Governor Adeleke and his co-travellers to harass, kidnap and kill leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to silence the voice of the opposition.

The allegation is coming on the heels of the release of a white paper by the state government and Governor Adeleke’s directive to a task force to recover properties allegedly looted by officials of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.

Lawal described the ‘White Paper’ as a ‘mere smokescreen’ to “divert the attention of the public from asking pertinent questions regarding the looting carnival and grossly irresponsible conduct of the mediocre and political charlatans in the seat of power in Abere.

“Task Force, secretly set up by Governor Adeleke and peopled by the PDP thugs and notorious criminals on the wanted list of the police have been billed to forcefully retrieve some vehicles duly approved for past government functionaries. He said the decision of the government is to further provoke the law-abiding citizens, injure them and precipitate violence in the state.

“On the threat to lives and properties of the leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress, Security reports available to us revealed that the handlers of the state government will anytime from now carry out the evil plan by hiding under the excuse of implementing the White Paper recently issued by the Osun State Government.

“We are imploring President Bola Tinubu to intervene in this matter before the incumbent government starts killing us.”

Reacting to the allegations of APC, the Special Senior Adviser on Media to Adeleke, Bamiji Oladele berated the the opposition party.

He said, “What the present administration did was to investigate the missing government vehicles and it was discovered that the vehicles were carted away by officials of the previous administration illegally, hence, a task force to recover the missing vehicles is put in place, we are not after anybody or attempt to silence opposition but to recover what they stole.”
