It added that a democratic nation allowed people to air their views in a peaceful manner.

But, it stressed that when it got violent on both sides, it would become worrisome.

“#EU is concerned by the incidents that took place during protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Nigeria.

“Peaceful protests are part of a thriving democracy,” it tweeted.

It also revealed that a new Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team have been established to reflect the reformation.

On its part, the EU maintained that the nation would be better off if the force reformed the unit.

“The announcement that serious police reform will take place is an important step to secure rights of citizens,” it tweeted.
