#EndSARS: NBA To Assist Victims In Petition Writing, Presentation Before Judicial Panels

Following the establishment of judicial panels of inquiry across the country, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) says it will assist victims of police brutality to write or present their petitions.

NBA president, Olumide Akpata, disclosed this in a tweet on Saturday.

He added that the NBA had struck a deal with the National Human Rights Commission on it.

“Yesterday, on behalf of the NBA I signed a Memorandum of Partnership (MOP) with the National EHuman Rights Commission to inter-alia assist victims of human rights violations by SARS in preparing & presenting their petitions to the Panels of Inquiry set up by the FGN & State Govts, ” he tweeted.

Recall that the federal government had ordered states to set up the panel so as to address alleged cases of abuses by the police, especially the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad

This came after days of EndSARS protests by Nigerians, who had called for police reforms among other demands.
