Ex-Kogi Governor’s Son Arrested For Diverting NFF Funds

Muhammed Audu, son of the former governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly diverting “several millions of dollars and billions of naira” belonging to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) into his personal accounts.

The exact amount of money diverted by Audu was not disclosed.

A statement signed by Spokesman of the EFCC, Tony Orilade and obtained by THE WHISTLER on Friday, said Audu was arrested on Tuesday for “allegedly diverting the funds to the tune of several millions of US Dollars and billions of Naira, which were donated to the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, to his personal use. 

He was said to have been arrested in Lagos.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly used two of his companies, Mediterranean Hotels Limited and Mediterranean Sports, to divert the funds, which he could not account for.

“The suspect will soon be charged to court as soon investigations are concluded”, the statement said.
