Fani Kayode Slams ‘Irresponsible’ Health Minister Over Comment On Buhari’s Medical Trips
Former aviation minister, Femi Fani Kayode, has described as “irresponsible”, comments made by Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health, on President Muhammadu Buhari’s frequent medical trips to the United Kingdom.
Adewole had in an interview with THISDAY, over the weekend, said Nigeria’s inability to handle private and confidential information is part of the reasons President Muhammadu Buhari travels abroad for medical treatment.
The health minister, who described Nigeria as a “strange country”, said President Buhari is an individual who is entitled to his privacy.
He further stated that Nigeria as a country cannot handle confidential information and do not “respect people’s right to privacy”.
But reacting in a tweet via his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Fani Kayode, who disagreed with the minister, said Nigerians have the right to know the state of the President’s health.
“@MBuhari‘s ailment has been kept secret because Nigerians don’t know how to handle information”- Professor Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health.
An irresponsible comment, coming from an irresponsible man, working for an irresponsible Government.
The people have a right to know!

Recall that Mr Buhari returned to the country last Friday after a three-day medical trip to London.
The President in 2017 spent more than 100 days in the British capital for “undisclosed” medical issues.
