FG Seeks More Local Investors In Aviation Industry

The Federal Government has said it would provide support for investors in the country’s aviation sector to thrive.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said this on Friday while inspecting  aviation facilities at the Caverton Offshore Support Group Plc Helicopters headquarters in Lagos, the ministry said on its twitter.

“As one of the primary objectives of government is  providing full support to entrepreneurs in order to provide the needed services and employments for our people,  and this is exactly what is happening here at Caverton Group. I am willing to continue to support Caverton and other investors in civil aviation,” the aviation minister said.

The Caverton Group, facilities include the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul and a newly acquired Simulator for the training of pilots.

Sirika said the investments in Civil Aviation by Caverton Helicopters will support government’s employment efforts and provide service for the sector.

Nigeria’s aviation industry and services are dominated by foreigners, but the minister said that   Caverton Helicopters massive investments will bridge the gap and create space for Nigerians to participate.

Sirika said, “I will like to thank the Chairman of Caverton Helicopters for their foresight and decision to participate in civil aviation industry, they have done so far very well.

“For the FAAN which in its wisdom  provided the percel of the land, I think they have done well, we are also proud of them as this will add to their revenue and activities within the airport.”

The Managing Director, Caverton Helicopters, Rotimi Makanjuola, said the employment which the facility will create, would accelerate capacity development and stop capital flight.

“We know other industry participants spend millions of dollars flying out their pilots for capacity training in various simulators all around the world,” Makanjuola said.

The Caverton Boss said the company has an annual budget of over $3m to be spent for flying pilots to various facilities in Dubai, USA, Europe for training.
