FG Suspends Babalakin, Ogundipe, Constitutes Visitation Panel On UNILAG Crisis

President Muhammadu Buhari, as Visitor to the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has asked the Chairman of the Governing Council, Wale Babalakin, SAN, and the embattled Vice-Chancellor,Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to step aside pending the conclusion of investigation by the recently-constituted visitation panel.

This was disclosed on Friday by the Federal Ministry of Education’s Spokesperson, Ben Bem Goong, according to Punch.

“FG directs Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Dr. B. O. Babalakin and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin T. O. Ogundipe to recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President.”

Also, our correspondent gathered that the University Senate, are to meet and appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor for the university.

UNILAG had been engulfed in crisis following the removal of Ogundipe by the council over allegations of financial misappropriation.

Ogundipe had denied the allegations .
