FG Wants To Cripple Us – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has said that the Federal government’s directive on the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) is among other things, geared towards altering the autonomy of Nigerian universities.

The union disclosed this on Saturday via an official tweet on @ASUUNGR.

According to ASUU, the presidency is using IPPIS as a tool for “crippling” the re-negotiation of FGN/ASUU 2009 agreement and memorandum of action.

Recall that FG had issued a directive that all of its employees must come under its unified payment platform, in line with global best practices.

But the Union alleges that
instead of complying with the agreement both parties reached on February 7, 2019, government is yet to constitute a panel that will look into the various issues raised by the academic union.

The group also alleged that government’s behavior towards ASUU is capable of hindering the possibility of offering quality education to the current and future generation of Nigerians.
