A delegation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, on Sunday visited Katsina State to condole with the family of late Major General Rabe Abubakar (retd.) and the state government over the former military officer’s death.
The delegation conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the bereaved family and the people of Katsina State.
At the late General’s residence in Katsina, Major General Abdullahi described the deceased as a dedicated and patriotic officer who served Nigeria with distinction in various capacities throughout his military career.
He said Major General Abubakar made significant contributions to the growth of the Nigerian Army and the country’s security architecture.
“Major General Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation meritoriously for over three decades. His years of dedicated service and sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said.

The Army chief assured the family that security agencies would do everything possible to bring those responsible for the retired general’s death to justice and pledged the military’s continued support to the family during the difficult period.
As part of the visit, the delegation presented a national flag to the family in recognition of the late officer’s dedicated service and sacrifice to the nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Dikko Mu’azu Ruma, the Gado da Masun Katsina, thanked the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for standing by the family.
“On behalf of the entire family, the good people of Batsari Local Government Area and indeed Katsina State, we sincerely thank the Chief of Defence Staff and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for standing by us, especially during this trying period,” he said.
The delegation also visited the Katsina State Government House, where they were received by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.

During the visit, Major General Abdullahi conveyed the condolences of the Armed Forces to the state government and people of Katsina, describing the late officer’s death as a painful loss.
The deputy governor said the retired general’s demise was a huge loss not only to Katsina State but also to the nation, noting that his commitment to national service and security would remain an inspiration to future generations.
