The security operatives pleaded with protesters to make way for residents to use the road.

Protesters were seen chanting solidarity songs, calling on the federal government to put a stop to police brutality and reform the system in general.

Speaking to THE WHISTLER, one of the coordinators of the protest noted that the choice to block the airport was to ensure that their demands were met following the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards their demands.

Security personnel, however, refused to speak to the press as they made effort to ensure the free movement of vehicles, but were not successful.

A police operative whispered to our correspondent saying, “I hope you are also taking note of the atrocities happening here”, he said.

A commuter, Sam Uye, expressed his support for the movement saying, he has been here since morning and would not mind staying more given it yields the desired result.

“Let them continue. They are doing the right thing. I don’t mind staying here,” Uye noted.

Similarly, Paul Afolabi, who described himself as a pastor expressed discomfort over the situation saying the gridlock on the airport has halted his goals for the day.
