Happening Now: US House of Representatives Votes On Impeachment Article Against Trump

After debating the pros and cons of the impeachment article against United President Donald Trump, members of the House of Representatives are currently voting on whether to proceed with it or not.

The House on Wednesday moved on with the plan to impeach out-going President Trump as it convened to debate articles of impeachment.

The articles of impeachment are weaved around the mob attack on the U.S. capitol building on Wednesday, an attack which some lawmakers have described as inciting insurrection.

Democratic Rep. Jim McGovern opened the debate, telling the lawmakers that Trump needed to be impeached, alleging he is a danger to the world.

But Republican lawmakers, majority of who are against the impeachment plot, have advised their Democratic colleagues not to follow that path, claiming that it would further divide the country.

Recall that the House had voted in favor of Trump’s removal (223 -205) and had called on U.S. vice president Mike Pence to remove the president.

Pelosi had also said that if Pence refused to remove Trump , the House would begin impeachment proceedings.

But Pence had rejected the House Speaker’s (Nancy Pelosi) call for him to invoked the “25th amendment” and remove Trump from office, saying that that could only happen if the president was incapacitated.
