IGP Warns Oyo Command Against Complacency Over Re-arrested Serial Killer

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has warned the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwanchukwu Enwonwu, and the entire command against complacency in the case of the re-arrested suspected serial killer, Sunday Shodipe.

The IGP gave this warning in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba.

He also commended the CP and his team for promptly re-arresting the 19-year-old suspected ritual killer who escaped from the custody on August 11 after confessing to series of killings in the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.

The statement read, “The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM,mni while commending the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu and his team for a job well done, equally expressed his sincere appreciation to the citizens for their support and understanding while the manhunt for the rearrested Shodipe lasted.

“The IGP has warned against any form of complacency on the part of the operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, stressing that all hands must be on deck to bring the case to a positive and successful closure.”

Shodipe had confessed that he was sent on the killing mission by a herbalist who was also arrested by the police but the man denied his claims.

His escape from police custody has attracted outcries against the police and a bounty of N500,000 was placed on the head of the suspect by the police.
