I’m Confident Of My Re-election, Buhari Tells Nigerians In Togo

President Muhammadu Buhari has told the Nigerian community in Togo that he is confident of his re-election in 2019 regardless of the defections currently rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I am not bothered about the defections,” Buhari told the citizens who posed questions to him at the Nigerian Embassy in Lome.

The president had departed the country on Sunday to participate in two high-level meetings at the Joint ECOWAS/ECCAS Summit in the West African country.

Continuing, Buhari told the citizens that, “Ordinary Nigerians have developed confidence in us and are defending us. I assure you, majority of Nigerians back home are appreciative of our efforts.”

He also commended them for travelling from different corners of Togo to meet with him at the country’s embassy.

Buhari told them that his administration is keeping to its election promises even though his predecessors allegedly failed to save and use revenues from oil to develop the country.

On the security challenges facing the country, the president said, “I assure you that we are making progress in security as some displaced farmers are returning to their farms. We will continue to work very hard for our dear country.”
