INEC Issues Certificate Of Return To Akeredolu, Deputy

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, issued Certificates of Return to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and the Deputy Governor-Elect, Lucky Ayedatiwa.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Rufus Akeju, presented the certificates to Akeredolu and Ayedatiwa at the headquarters of the commission in Akure, the state capital.

Akeredolu, while receiving the certificate, praised the electoral umpire for the successful conduct of the governorship poll last Saturday.

He also commended the efforts of the security agents for ensuring that the election went smoothly.

He further dedicated his victory and the certificates to God and the people of the state. 

Recall that Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had polled a total of 292,830 votes at the polls to be re-elected for a second term in office.

He defeated his closest challenger, and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eyitayo Jegede who scored 195,791 votes. 

Agboola Ajayi, deputy governor of the state and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, came third with 69,127 votes.
