ISIS, Not Herdsmen, Behind Benue Killings – Doyin Okupe

Dr Doyin Okupe, the former public affairs adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has claimed that the incessant killings going on in Benue and other parts of Nigeria are not the handiwork of Fulani herdsmen.

Okupe, who also was once a media and publicity aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the persistent killing of innocent Nigerians are being perpetrated by the Islamic State terrorists.

The politician, who had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Accord Party (AD) in 2017, made these claims in a series of tweets, saying ISIS is at war with the country.

Okupe said, ‘‘For God’s sake Benue killings is not by herdsmen. These are ISIS terrorists. They operate with guerrilla tactics. Only armed local vigilante groups, backed by police/army is solution.

‘‘Benue Bloodletting must be stopped NOW. It’s beyond official condemnation. Nigeria’s terrorists are at war in Benue. They must not WIN,’’ he tweeted.
