The media outlets said that the prime minister might win only 59 seats as it will fall short of 2 seats to win an overall majority.

Natanyahu, who is running under the Likud party expressed hopes to win the poll, adding that he had survived forces who tried to unseat him.

According to him, Israelis would vote for him, “because we brought them the best decade in the history of Israel.”

He added that he would hold a meeting with other right-wing and religious parties to talk on a, “strong, national government for the state of Israel.”

Meanwhile, it is predicted that the opposition Blue and White party candidate, Benny Gantz would win 32 seats while the Likud party would win 36.

The opposition leader refused to accept defeat at their headquarters in Tel Aviv. According to him, “This is not the result we wanted and not the result that will put Israel back on the right track.”

Twenty-nine parties had contested in the election, while eight would make over 3.25% threshold needed to win representation in the 120- seat Knesset.

The Joint List of Arab parties were projected to win 15 seats, while Israel’s ultra-Orthodox population are also projected to win 17 seats, hence they would make up Netanyahu’s coalition bloc.

The vote count is expected to end Tuesday, with the exception of soldiers votes and Israelis vote abroad.
