JUST IN: Bandits Invade Abuja Army Estate, Kidnap Two

Two persons have been kidnapped in a military estate on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

THE WHISTLER learnt that the bandits invaded Phase 2, Army Estate, Kurudu at about 10pm last night.

According to eyewitnesses, there was exchange of gunfire between the bandits and the estate security officials. However, the gunmen escaped with two victims.

Since the beginning of 2024, Abuja has witnessed a significant rise in the number of kidnapping incidents.

On Wednesday, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike vowed to make Abuja hot for kidnappers.

The minister said he had received marching orders from President Bola Tinubu to provide all that the security agencies would need to keep the federal capital safe.

Subsequently, the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, established a Special Intervention Squad in the Federal Capital Territory to curb activities of kidnappers and bandits.
