JUST IN: Third Republic Senate President Iyorchia Ayu Emerges PDP’s Consensus Chairmanship Candidate

A third republic Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, has emerged as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The agreement for Ayu to become the main opposition party’s next national chairman was reached at a meeting of the northern caucus of the PDP held at Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

Recall that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP had last month zoned the position to the North.

Ayu had served as minister under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
