Kaduna: Several Bandits Killed As Troops Attack Kuduru Forest

The Defence Headquarters on Saturday said several bandits were killed after the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike attacked their camp in Kuduru Forest Area of Kaduna State.

The attack, according to Defence Spokesman, John Enenche, was carried out on Thursday, following intelligence reports indicating the “convergence of members of an Ansaru Terrorist Sect-linked bandits group, led by one Mallam Abba, at the location.”

According to him, aerial surveillance missions conducted over the area also located several bandits, some wielding weapons in the forest.

He said: “Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets and helicopter gunships were therefore tasked to attack the location.

“Several of the bandits were killed as the attack aircraft strafed the area, while others attempting to escape were mopped-up in follow-on attacks.”

Banditry in Kaduna, like other North Western states in the country, have become a regular feature in the state with one attack after the other.

Despite the onslaught of the bandits, the military believes it has the capacity to deal with the criminal elements.
