Kano Commission Recommends Prosecution Of Suspected Kidnappers As State Recovers More Children

The Judicial Commission of Enquiry into Missing Persons in Kano, 2010 – 2019 has said, aside from nine children rescued from kidnappers in Anambra state, the commission uncovered additional three kids who were kidnapped and taken to Lagos state, in January this year and have since being reunited with their families.

The Commission has submitted its report to the Kano state Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The report, recommends prosecution of some suspected kidnappers in the state, who were identified in the course of the Commission’s work.

Making the assertion while addressing the governor at the Council Chamber, during State Executive Council meeting, the Chairman of the Commission Justice Wada Umar Rano, revealed that they were able to also recovered other 3 kids who were kidnapped and taken to Lagos state, in January this year and have since being reunited with their families.

It would, however, be recalled that Kano state Governor Ganduje on October 25, 2019, instituted a Commission of Inquiry, under the chairmanship of retired Justice Wada Umar Rano and inaugurated the body on,31st October 2019.

A statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Abba Anwar on Thursday said Justice Rano disclosed that the commission was able to, through various testimonies of the witnesses unearthed the activities of notorious kidnapper Amina Gaya with her accomplices

He said 186 witnesses testified while 99 memoranda were submitted, adding that recommendations made in the report would help in avoiding the recurrence of criminalities in the state.
