Kate Middleton: Hospital Staff Faces Prosecution For Accessing Princess Of Wales’ Medical Records

Recent speculation surrounding the Princess of Wales’ health has taken a new turn.

The UK’s Health Minister, Maria Caulfield, has warned that staff at the London Clinic could face legal repercussions, including fines and prosecution if found to have accessed Kate Middleton’s medical records without authorisation.

This follows reports that the private hospital launched an internal investigation after allegations surfaced that a staff member attempted to access Kate’s medical records during her January visit for abdominal surgery.

Kate has been out of the public eye since December due to the “planned abdominal surgery”.

The UK Health Minister’s warning came amid controversy surrounding a video allegedly showing the Princess of Wales shopping with Prince William after the reported surgery.

Caulfield said police have been asked to investigate whether staff member at the London Clinic tried to access the records or not.

“The (privacy and data watchdog) information commissioner would take enforcement action against trusts or primary care practices, but also, as individual practitioners, your regulatory body…would take action as well.”

She further stated that it would be very disappointing if the notes had been accessed, but added there are strict rules about which patients’ notes can be accessed.

“From a health perspective, it’s not acceptable to be looking at people’s notes, but it has been spotted and action has been taken so people can be reassured that if it does happen – particularly with electronic notes these days, it’s spotted pretty quickly if someone’s accessing notes that they shouldn’t be,” Caulfield added.
