KOGI: Bello Appoints New Chief Of Staff As ‘Powerful’ Onoja Resigns

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has appointed a new chief of staff in the person of Jamiu Abdulkareem Asuku.

This follows the resignation of Bello’s erstwhile chief of staff, Edward David Onoja, whom the governor recently named as his running mate in the November 16 governorship election.

A statement by Bello’s chief press secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, said the governor had also approved appointment of Gabriel Ottah as his director-general of protocol.

Asuku and Ottah’s appointments were contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Arike Ayoade.

Ayoade said the appointments take effect from 14 October 2019.

Until their appointments, Asuku was the director-general, protocol, while Ottah was the head of mass communication department at Kogi State University, Anyigba.

Meanwhile, Bello’s former chief of staff and present governorship running mate had been often tipped as the “most powerful” man in Kogi politics for a while.

Onojo had been credited with bringing Bello’s current deputy, Simon Achuba, into Kogi politics and was the one who allegedly introduced Achuba to Governor Bello.
