Kwara Police Label Kidnap Of Monarch’s Twin Girls ‘Opportunistic Crime’

The Kwara State Police Command has described the abduction of six-year-old twin daughters of a first-class monarch in the state, Oba Samuel Adelodun, as ‘opportunistic crime’.

The girls were reportedly abducted alongside five others.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 6:30 pm on Thursday when the monarch’s driver, security aide, palace maid and the girls were returning from Osi, a town in Ekiti Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The police command in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Ajayi Okusanmi, disclosed that the victims were heading to the palace at Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti LGA, when their vehicle was ambushed and the occupants abducted.

Okusanmi told THE WHISTLER that although the state has witnessed a relatively low level of insecurity, the recent was “one of the opportunistic crimes the country is contending with”.

He recalled that the attacked vehicle was a Siena with a customized registration plate number bearing Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle.

Okasanmi, however, noted that the command had dispatched the Anti Kidnapping and other Tactical Units of the command alongside local hunters and vigilantes to carry out a search and rescue operation in the area.

The command enjoined residents of the state to be conscious of happenings around them as well as avoid movements in isolated and lonely routes at odd hours of the day.

He reiterates the commitment of the command to securing the lives of the residents of Kwara State.
