English Premier League has announced changes to the closure of its transfer window, which will shut at 17:00 on the Thursday before the 2018-19 season.

The announcement came after a proposal to change the transfer window was considered in a shareholders’ meeting on Sept. 7.

The English clubs have voted to close the summer transfer window which now shut on the Thursday before the start of the season at 5pm.

Deadline day this season came after three Premier League fixtures and caused chaos with a number of players uncertain of where they would be playing.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho all expected to move were held back and remained at their clubs.

In the Arsenal- Liverpool match, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain played against the Reds, losing 4-0, before signing for the Anfield club for £35m on deadline day.

Calls were made to change the window’s schedule and the Premier League clubs have voted to alter it.

However, the move means Premier League clubs will not be able to sign or sell players when their season is under way, while other European leagues will continue to allow such movement until 31 August and it also means other European clubs can still buy from the Premier League clubs.
