Lagos To Review Lockdown After Seven Days – Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Government has hinted that it will review the lockdown situation in the state after seven days.

Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu disclosed this on Wednesday during  a virtual meeting with  28 MD/CEOs in the state under the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).

The Lagos lockdown was extended for 14 days on Monday by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Responding to the concerns on business continuity raised by the MDs and CEOs, Sanwo-Olu said, “The LASG will consider a review of the lockdown situation after 7 days. Strategic relaxation of the lockdown may be implemented. However, more access will be given to businesses as more lockdown relaxations are instituted.”

Scaling Up Business Operations

According to sources at  the meeting,the governor said that he would speak to the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele,. to address the issues of charges on cash deposits and cheque clearing, especially during the lockdown period.

“More assistance will be given to organisations involved in packaging to enable them support other essential sectors. The Governor will speak to the MD of NPA with the view of fast-tracking clearance of essential raw materials.

“The governor promised to speak to his colleagues in the Governors’ Forum later today(Wednesday) to facilitate ease of access for businesses in their states,” sources added.

The governor further warned businesses to be more security conscious and take adequate measures to secure their staff and assets.
