LASEMA Begins Search For Kids Swept Into Canal By Flood

The Lagos State Emergency Agency has begun search for the two kids swept away by flood at the Ketu area on Saturday.

Two children were reportedly swept away by flood at the races on Saturday night and efforts made to recover them has proved futile.

The Director General, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the missing children in a tweet said rescuers had started searching for them.

He urged parents to always ensure that their children were safe especially whenever rain was falling.

Oke-Osanyinrolu said, ‘LASEMA, Responders in frantic search of children caught up by flood The agency received distress calls concerning a flood incident at Oyebanjo Street, Ketu on Saturday night.

“Upon the arrival of the Tiger Squad at the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Secretariat at the scene along the path of the flood water. Initial observations revealed a sloping topography with a direct channel of drain water into the canal.

“This has proven to be rather challenging to navigate. Members of the public are urged to exercise extreme caution, particularly with young children, in flood prone and low lying areas.

“Rescue operation remains ongoing as the team has resumed search and rescue this morning #call112emergencytollfree #ForAGreaterLagos.”
