LASTMA Officials No Longer Feel Safe On Lagos Roads -GM

The General Manager of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, Olajide Oduyoye, has said LASTMA officers no longer feel safe on Lagos roads.

Oduyoye, who stated this on Wednesday said it was due to attacks carried out against policemen, LASTMA officials and others during the violence which trailed the #ENDSARS protest in the state.

He said the lack of security for the agency’s officials was the reason some of them are no longer at their duty posts.

The LASTMA general manager however said 70 per cent of its men were at their various duty posts while just 30 per cent, who were mainly women, had not been deployed outside.

He said the inability of the agency to guarantee the security of its men was the reason the 30 per cent had not be deployed.

He said our “officers do not feel safe on the road.”

“Our officers are already out on the road but not in full capacity, this is for safety reasons because the police are not on the road for obvious reasons,” he said.

“About 70 per cent of our men are out, the remaining 30 per cent are females and for safety reasons, they cannot be out,” he said.
