Law Firm To Provide Free Legal Services To Nollywood Film-Makers

Aluko and Oyebode, an Abuja based law firm on Wednesday said it will provide free legal consulting service to producers of movies or television series with legal content in the Nigerian movie industry.

But the legal support is only reserved for registered Nigerian companies and accredited producers, the firm said in a statement.

The firm said the support was part of its move to support progress made in the industry.

The Abuja based firm said the legal service is limited to “advice on costuming, review of scripts to reflect language in the courtroom, client meetings scenes and court room or law office settings.”

The firm said, “As part of Aluko & Oyebode’s commitment to provide valuable support to Nigerian businesses, two units within the firm, namely, the telecommunications, media, entertainment and technology unit; and the dispute resolution unit, have identified the film industry (Nollywood) as recipient of our corporate social responsibility initiative.

“The firm acknowledges the hard work and progress of Nollywood, and has decided to provide free legal consulting service to producers of movies or television series with legal content.

“The firm undertakes, on a yearly basis to assist a cumulative of 5 – 7 filmmakers, subject to terms and conditions.”
