“I will blame it on bad mental health to be sincere. I normally would not want to share a light on this and I am not going to tell what my other particular cause of bad mental health was,” he said.

He stressed that a lot of Nigerians are faced with similar situations but may not reveal their challenges because there is less discussion on mental health in the country.

“If you are in a dark place at the moment, all those voices you hear in your head are wrong, they are lying to you fam.

“One day it going to come, and you are going to see the light at the end of the day, then it will be worth waiting for,” he advised.

Lil Kesh, however, said compared to the personality he was known for, he had evolved drastically especially after his struggles with mental health.

Although he didn’t reveal how much he had been through, he said he’s been taking care of himself from within, and he is now a better person.

Born 25 years ago, the artist came to limelight in 2012 when he rapped among his colleagues in Bariga. He rose to fame after the release of “Lyrically” and “Shoki”.

In 2015, he was nominated for Best New Act at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
