The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has disclosed that the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) in 2019 disbursed N1.64 trillion to the 774 local governments across the country, which represents 23.3% of the total allocation.
The NBS made the disclosure in the FAAC disbursement series of 2019, which was released on Thursday.
According to NBS, local governments in Lagos and Kano States received the highest allocation of N104.97 billion and N92.16 billion respectively in 2019.
Local governments in Bayelsa and Gombe States received the lowest allocation of N18.99bn and N23.80bn in respectively.The federal government received N2.93 trillion from the FAAC, while state governments received N2.47 trillion, which represents 41.6% and 35.1% of the total allocation of N7.04 trillion.
Among the states, Delta and Akwa Ibom States, received the highest allocation of N219.28bn and N171.98bn respectively in 2019, while Osun and Cross River States received the lowest allocation of N24.22 billion and N36.31 billion respectively.
