Makinde Drives Into June 12 Protest

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday drove into the procession of June 12 protesters along UI–Secretariat road in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Saturday.

The governor, who was without his retinue of security details, met the protesters at the Osuntokun Junction along UI-Secretariat road.

He was driving on the inward UI Lane but stopped when he met the protesters who were happy to see him.

The protesters surrounded his vehicle and hailed him.

He addressed the jubilant youths but his voice was drowned in the chanting.

He sat in the car and after a while, drove off.

The protesters continued with the protest and stopped at the entrance of the State Secretariat Agodi where some of them addressed the crowd.

Armed security agents were already waiting at the entrance but there was no attack of any kind.

At the Secretariat, the youths and Yoruba Nation agitators had a disagreement as Buhari must go protesters said they had nothing to do with pro-Yoruba Nation group.

However, this was quickly resolved and the protesters continued towards Iwo Road area.

The youth had marched from Mokola to Sango area and chanted Buhari must go, saying President Muhammadu Buhari had failed them and must leave for capable persons to lead the country.

The protest has been peaceful and despite coming across armed security agents there was no attack .
