Activist, Celebrities, Expressed Anger Over Clampdown On Protesters

Despite efforts made by Nigeria governments to clampdown #June12protest, Activist, Celebrities came out in their numbers to express anger over bad governance.

In series of tweets, activist, and some celebrities condemned the clampdown as they call on the government to restructure the country.

On the part of Reno Omokri, he hails Nigerian Youths for coming out to the protest against some of the problems facing the country.

“I am so proud of Nigerian youths. #EURO2020 is ongoing, yet a football crazy nation like Nigeria is out on the streets for #June12thProtest.

“Nigerians are demonstrating that their national salvation is more important to us than our love of football. This is a turning point for us

“This policeman shooting at #June12thProtest protesters is not well paid, or well equipped or even insured against hazards. Yet, he is shooting at protesters who are protesting to secure a better life for him and his family. Some people don’t know their friends from their enemies

“Go out and join the #June12thProtest. My own family members are out protesting. We must refuse to have a country where daily death at the hands of killer herdsmen and bandits is now too common that it is no longer news. As at today, Nigeria does not have a responsible government,” his tweet reads.

He went further to say the protest is not an anti protest but for Nigerians.

“#June12thProtest is not an anti/protest North. It is not a pro-South protest. It is a pro-Nigerian protest.

“In the entire North, General Buhari has not invested $1.9bn in any state. Yet, he took that money and awarded a contract in Niger Republic. Join now or suffer forever.”

For DJ Switch, she hailed the youths for their courage.

She said, “I am so proud that we are making this statement of defiance! Defying tyranny, oppression, suppression on #DemocracyDay even at great risks to our lives!

“Today #June12thProtest this government and the one after will take into account the difference between this generation and the old.”

For Reality TV star Tacha, she lamented how bad governance had eaten deep into the system as she calls for better administration.

She stated, “When does it end?!! We ask with concern. Poverty! Nepotism! Insecurity! Corruption!! Unemployment! Bad Governance! Abused Democracy! Human Rights Violations! Lack of Basic Amenities!

“Till this day I still can’t believe the poverty capital of the world is Nigeria. Imagine over 50 per cent of Nigerians living in extreme poverty and they expect us to be happy and shut our mouths. We say no.”

For reality star Leo Dasilva said, “Nigeria government banned Twitter because of public disgrace, Nigerians started using VPN and now our problems keep trending number 1 on US Twitter and other countries, bringing a lot more attention to Nigeria. Their solution only made matters worse.”
