Newly Appointed LASU VC Resumes Office

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji- Bello, has resumed office today at the institution.

She was received by the acting VC, Oyedamola Oke, members of staff and students at the institution’s senate building.

According to a statement by LASU’s PR Unit, Olatunji-Bello’s arrival was termed “gallantry”.

“After months of heightened expectations by stakeholders, the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, appointed former Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni 9th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University to wide applause from all and sundry,” the statement said.

Her appointment was first announced in a statement on Thursday, 17 September, by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso.

Olatunji-Bello, who is the wife of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, is the second female to assume the office of VC at the 37-year-old institution.

Born on April 23, 1964, she is a professor of Physiology and became the first professor of Physiology at LASU College of Medicine on October 2, 2007.
