The 52-year-old Frenchman will be assisted by the former interim coach, Salisu Yusuf, who takes the role of Chief Coach. Coach Imama Amapakabo and goalkeeping trainer Alloy Agu will also work with Le Guen.

Le Guen will replace Sunday Oliseh, who was the Super Eagles’ last permanent coach before he quit in February over a row with the NFF.

The NFF’s technical committee also recommended that former Super Eagles assistant coach Bitrus Bewarang be given the role of national technical director.

With the appointment of Le Guen, Nigeria will be hoping to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after failing to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.

They have been drawn in Group B where they will face Algeria, the top-ranked side in Africa, Cameroon, as well as Zambia.
