Niger State To Quarantine Violators Of Lockdown Order For 14 Days

The Niger State government on Monday warned that anyone caught flouting the lockdown order by illegally coming into or passing through the state shall be kept in isolation for 14 days.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello stated this while giving an update on his earlier directive for a total lockdown of the state, in a measure to halt the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-14) recently confirmed in the state.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mary Noel, also said all borders and entry points into the state would be closed until further notice.

“Any person caught flouting this order by illegally coming into or passing through the state shall be forcefully put in isolation for 14days.”

The statement also disclosed the isolation centres that the violators of the lockdown order would be quarantined.

According to the statement, the isolation centres are:

“For Abuja/ Suleja: Sabon-Wuse General Hospital.

“For Kwara/ Mokwa: General Hospital Mokwa.

“For Kebbi: Nasko General Hospital.

“Furthermore, any person(s) bringing in essential products/services shall have their temperatures checked at each entry point, and if same is above the NCDC specifications, such person(s) shall be quarantined until a health clearance is issued.

“Health officers will be situated at each of the borders isolation centers for this purpose,” the statement added.
