Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare Sets New 100m Women Record

Blessing Okagbare, Nigeria’s most prolific female athlete has set new record on Wednesday after running a 100m race in less than 11 seconds in Samorin, Slovak.

Blessing was at the P-T-S Meeting, a  competition of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver.

Okagbare who was not new to such challenges won the winning by almost half a second in 10.98 (-0.1m/s).

World Athletic dubbed it ‘Slovak all-comers’ record.’

She already has world and Olympic medals. She also holds the Women’s 100 meters Commonwealth Games record for the fastest time at 10.85 seconds.

At the P-T-S Meeting, Ireland’s, Ciara Neville, who finished second ended a distant second (11.47).

The Nigerian gave a thrilling 49 seconds gap to  Neville.

The Delta born  is the current African record holder in the 200m with her 22.04 seconds finish in 2018.

Apart from the records, she has three gold medals in the All-Africa Games.
