NIMASA, Gov Ugwuanyi Boost Technological Innovation In Enugu

Welders and blacksmiths at Coal Camp, Enugu, were jubilant on Wednesday following the donation of welding machines to them by the Enugu State government in collaboration with the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

NIMASA donated the welding machines to the state governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who, in turn, directed that the tools be given to
the artisans at Coal Camp technical village, our correspondent gathered.

THE WHISTLER reports that Coal Camp is the mechanic village in Enugu, and reputed for all kinds of technological innovations in mechanics,
blacksmith and fabrications.

The chairman of the Tricycle Riders’ Association in Enugu State, Mr Benjamin Ikah, thanked the donors for empowering the artisans. He said
the gesture was a demonstration of the governor’s quest for the technological innovations in the state.

The beneficiaries, he said, emerged on merits [through balloting], and charged them to put
the machines to good use for the betterment of society.

One of the beneficiaries, Uwakwe Apeh, commended Gov Ugwuanyi for his commitment to their welfare.

He said, “This will enable me to do better in my workshop. This is what we need to fight poverty and unemployment.”

Other beneficiaries promised to utilize the equipment to serve the public effectively and enhance their fortunes.

The state governor, represented by his deputy, Cecilia Ezeilo, said the choice of the beneficiaries was ‘informed by the governor’s
commitment to the wellbeing of the people, especially the ordinary
persons’.

She said, “Gov Ugwuanyi did not only direct that the machines be given out, he also ensured that the working equipment got to the actual
people that use them in their day-to-day activities.”
