The League Management Company (LMC) has fined Ikorodu United of Lagos a total of N3.5m for failing to control their fans in their Nigeria Professional Football League match against 3SC at the Onikan Stadium, on Sunday 7 August, 2016.

The league management body revealed this in a series of tweets on Thursday, noting that the Ikorodu based club breached the NPFL framework and rules for failing to control their crowd.

Recall that in the NPFL Matchday 30, on Sunday August 7, play was stopped before full time in a match between Ikorodu United and Shooting Stars at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos after the home fans disrupted the game following the visitors’ equalising goal.

Ajani Ibrahim struck two minutes from time as to equalise for 3SC after Chinedu Onyelonu had put Ikorodu United ahead in the 25th minute.

The Onikan fans apparently felt the goal should not have stood and they stormed the pitch to disrupt proceedings, some throwing objects into the pitch.
