NSCDC Embarks On Sensitisation Against COVID-19 In Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, on Tuesday embarked on open campaign to create awareness of the Coronavirus in the state. The state commandant of the NSCDC, David Bille, at the event in Awka, called on the people of the state to comply with the federal and state governments’ orders to maintain social distance and avoid large gatherings of people in the state.

He told THE WHISTLER that the open campaign by the command’s medical unit “is to enlighten the people of the state on how to protect themselves against the outbreak of COVID-19 in line with the duty of the corps in maintaining peace and order, and in the management of disasters, both natural and man-made in the country to prevent the citizens from witnessing the harzards associated with such.

“We therefore call on Ndi Anambra to avoid social gatherings at this present period in the state and make preventive measures available at all nooks and crannies of the state, especially in their workplaces, worship centers and markets.”

The public relations officer of the corps in the state, Edwin Okadigbo,.also told our correspondent in Awka that, “All heads of departments, heads of units and divisional officers are to be communicating online with the state headquarters. Divisional officers are to avoid travelling long distances, and give proper concentration on their jurisdiction and corps mandates at various local governments especially on preventing disasters, such as the spread of Corona virus and protecting lives and property during this period. The command has equally provided sanitizers, nose masks and hand washing equipment across all formations in compliance with preventive mechanism against the Corona Virus.”
