Nsukka Woman Narrates How Her ‘Educated’ Children Discouraged Her From Taking Covid-19 Vaccine

Mrs Janet Odo, 80, Thursday, said she was sceptical about receiving Covid-19 vaccine until she met a reverend sister who convinced her of its safety.

Speaking with THE WHISTLER at Nsukka Health Centre, Mrs Odo blamed her children for her apathy towards taking the vaccine.

She said, “I have three children. All of them graduated from the university. They keep telling me that the vaccine is fake. That anybody that takes the vaccine dies after two years. I believed them.

“But last week, I went to the church. The reverend sister I met said she went to take the vaccine. I asked her if it was not fake. She was angry.

“She told me that it has been preached in the church for people to take it. She said those giving the vaccine have also been invited to the church to give the vaccine to members of the church. That was why I came to take it.”

She expressed joy with the reception she got at the health centre after receiving the jab.

According to her, “I was happy how I was attended to. I also thank people working for NAFDAC. They asked me questions. They have also been calling me, to know how I was feeling.

“I felt the pains. Later, I felt little fever. I am now okay. I’ll tell whoever cares to take the vaccine.”

She advised social media users to desist from misinforming the public about the potency of the vaccine.
