NUIMS Meets Oil & Gas Stakeholders, Pledges To Eliminate Bureaucracy In Contract Bidding With NipeX Platform

The NNPC Upstream Investment Management Service (NUIMS) has said that Original Equipment Manufacturers and service providers were impressed with the solutions that the NipeX platform has brought in contracts bidding process in the country’s oil and gas industry.

The development was disclosed by the NNPCL team which exhibited at the Americas Energy Summit and Exhibition 2024 which was held in New Orleans, USA, and attended by THE WHISTLER.

The members of the NNPCL team present at the exhibition were the Deputy Manager JV Assets B4, Engr. Jude Onah; Omitayo Ajisafe, Finance and Account NipeX NIUMS and Omolabaje Bakare, Customer Relation and Marketing, NipeX NUIMS.

The NUIMS NipeX team said they engaged big players in the Oil and gas sector which is part of the strategic move by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government to change the investment landscape in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

Onah said, “We had to interact with so many potential contractors, service providers and companies that sell commodities for oil and gas. These companies are hearing of NipeX for the first time. They are interested in doing business with Nigeria but they didn’t know how it is done.

“The bulk of our discussion was to educate them on the brand, NNPC, and NipeX. They left more aware of where to go and how to invest in Nigerian oil and gas. We still have more work to do. We will repackage and improve as we progress.

“But it is important we continue to educate investors on this so that we can minimise the issue of people coming as middlemen to do service for us because the original equipment manufacturers (OEM) or service providers do not have direct access to us.”

Onah said the engagement with the investors will enable them to operate directly in Nigeria and eliminate the “Bureaucracy of having a third party because the OEM does not have knowledge on how to go about it.”

Mrs Ajisafe told THE WHISTLER that they received expressions of interest from some of the companies present at the summit.

She said, “NipeX experience has been interesting because we were able to showcase what we do. We have been able to sell, educate and advise investors.

“We told them that bidding process is now transparent and they do have fears in venturing into the Nigerian market. We told them that we are the backbone of the NNPCL in terms of contracting. We have seen people show interest and we will continue our engagement with them until they invest in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.”

Mrs Bakare in her response told THE WHISTLER said, “Our boot was strategically located and investors were able to locate our boot. I think we have done so well. The minister (for State Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo) was impressed when he came.”
