Okada Passenger Dies In Xmas Day Road Accident In Anambra

A passenger of a commercial motorcyclist, Friday, lost his life in a lone road accident that occurred near the disbanded SARs office at Awkuzu junction in Anambra State. It was gathered that the motorcyclist lost control due to over-speeding.

An eyewitness, Mrs Josephine Moma, told our correspondent that, “The number of the Cater motorcycle is PMG259QA. Both the rider and his passenger were taken to Chira Hospital. The passenger was confirmed dead on arrival while the rider is currently being treated.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander of the FRSC, Anambra State, Mr Andrew A Kumapayi, while reacting to frequent motorcycle accidents in the state, called on the operators to avoid over-speeding, and also always wear crash helmets to avoid head injuries when crashes occur.

In another development, a driver of a Man Diesel truck with registration number AKD 415 XM, yesterday, failed brake and rammed into a stationed truck with registration number ABN 946 YN at Immigration junction, Awka, by Enugu-Awka road. The truck, loaded with wheat and driven by one Daniel, was said to have lost brake before crashing.

The driver was rushed to Forte Hospital where he was treated, THE WHISTLER was told.
