One Killed, 10 Injured In Anambra Road Crashes

A Toyota Venza jeep with registration number KJA 862 ES, Thursday, killed a woman who was crossing the road opposite Abbot Secondary School, Ihiala, in Anambra State.

An eye witness report said the accident was caused by over-speeding. It was gathered that three persons (two male adults and one female) were involved in the crash.

According to the sector public education officer, FRSC, Anambra State, SC Florence Edor, “The female adult was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital by the FRSC rescue team from Ihiala Command, where she was later confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, has warned motorists to avoid over-speeding, especially in built-up areas. He also warned pedestrians to be watchful while crossing roads to avoid being knocked down by vehicles.

In another development, 13 persons escaped death in a lone motor accident that involved a Nissan bus with registration number HAL 401 ZX in Anambra State. The accident occurred at Samnovo U-turn, Ihiala, yesterday, and was caused by over-speeding.

An FRSC source in the state said 10 persons sustained varying degrees of injury, and were rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for treatment.
