Operation WUTAN DAJI: Troops Kill Several Bandits In Zamfara, Says DHQ

Several bandits were killed by the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) claimed on Monday.

It said air strike destroyed their camp in the Doumborou Forest area of Zamfara State.

Defence Spokesman, John Enenche, said the air strikes were executed on Sunday as part of a new subsidiary Operation, tagged WUTAN DAJI 2.

According to Enenche, several bandits belonging to the gang led by the their kingpin, “Dangote” were killed.

He did not give the actual number of the bandits killed.

He said: “The target was designated for attack after Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports as well as series of confirmatory aerial surveillance missions indicated that ‘Dangote’ and some of his members, along with their logistics items and rustled livestock, had established a new camp at the southern edge of the Forest.”

He added that an enhanced force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets and helicopter gun ships were dispatched to attack the location.

“The attack aircraft engaged the target area scoring accurate hits and taking out several of the bandits, while some of their structures were seen engulfed in flames. HUMINT sources later revealed that several of ‘Dangote’s followers were neutralised in the air strike,” he concluded.

The defence headquarters, had in July, disclosed that “Dangote” and his boys were killed in an air strike.
