Osimhen Scores Hat-trick As Napoli Defeat Sassuolo 6-1

Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, scored a hat-trick for Napoli in a 6-1 win over Sassuolo in a Serie A encounter on Wednesday.

Osimhen has enjoyed a stunning form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, scoring in every game and he was outstanding at the Stadio Città del Tricolore.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also scored a brace in the encounter to brush aside Sassuolo in front of their fans.

Racic opened the scoring for Sassuolo with a thumping effort in the 17th minute.

Amir Rrahmani restored parity for Napoli just before the half hour mark.

Osimhen got in the act with a close range finish following a good work by Matteo Politano in the 31st minute.

He added the second goal 10 minutes later following a mistake from Sassuolo defender and the Super Eagles star finished emphatically to make it 3-1 for Napoli.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick just after the restart, taking advantage of another mistake from Sassuolo.

He also assisted Kvaratskhelia for the fifth goal of the match.

Kvaratskhelia scored a brace to make it 6-1 to boost Napoli’s European hopes.

Osimhen has now scored five goals in three games since returning from the Nations Cup.

He is only the 3rd player in Napoli’s history to score at least 10 goals in 4 consecutive seasons in Serie A, after Diego Armando Maradona (between 1984/85 and 1987/88) and Attila Sallustro (between 1929/30 and 1932/33).

The 25-year-old has now scored 11 goals in 15 Serie A matches this season.

Up next for Osimhen and Napoli is a clash against Juventus on Sunday.
