Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has disagreed with Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, saying that Nigeria’s locally made Jollof rice remains the best in Africa.

Osinbajo made this known while speaking at this year’s May 1st edition of ‘The Platform’, on the topic ‘We Can See The Light At The End Of The Tunnel’, held at The Covenant Place Iganmu, Lagos.

The Platform, convened by Pastor Poju Oyemade, is a global media event that aims at highlighting opportunities in democratic and free market economy. This year’s edition is focused on the Nigerian economy.

The Vice President, who is one the guest speakers, at the on-going event, said in his opening remark, that Nigeria Jollof rice is the best and beats that of all other African nations.

He said: “We all know Nigeria Jollof rice is the best.

“We beat the Ghanians and the Senegalese hands down.”

Recall that Mr. Lai Muhammed on Friday said that the best Jollof rice is made in Senegal. He made the remark at the CNN Richard Quest Means Business anchored in Lagos.

Responding to a question on the country that makes best Jollof rice, the minister said: “I want to say probably Senegal.”

Quest asked the question because of the raging debate between which country in Africa makes the best Jollof rice.

Mohammed’s gaffe drew the ire of the social media, as the video went viral, with many lambasting the minister.
