Oyo Assembly Suspends 13 LG Chairmen For Ignoring Its Orders

The Oyo State House of Assembly has suspended 13 local government chairmen for ignoring its orders

The House announced the indefinite suspension on Tuesday and said it was caused by non compliance of the affected council bosses to the resolution of the Assembly on the submission of status of earthmoving equipment in their councils.

The suspended chairmen are from: Akinyele East LCDA, Ido LG, Oluyole LG, Ibadan North East LG, Lagelu West LCDA, Soro LCDA, and Ogbomosho Central LCDA.

Others are: Ogbomosho South LCDA, Ajorosun LCDA, Ibarapa North West LCDA, Itesiwaju LG, Oyo East LG, and Oyo South East LCDA.

The Assembly had earlier given the council chairmen till October 23 as the deadline to submit a comprehensive report on the state of earthmoving equipment in their councils.

The lawmakers said the failure to submit the report would attract suspension for anyone among them who failed to comply with the directive.

The lawmakers issued the threat while considering the interim report of the House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters which was presented by its Chairman, Segun Popoola
