Togun, who is a former Director, Directorate of Military Intelligence, said the operations of the security outfit would greatly reduce crimes, especially in the rural areas.

He said, ” Recruitment into Amotekun is starting today and applicants have been coming. We are screening them to know who they truly are. We don’t just base our judgment on what they tell us, we ask them questions.

“If somebody comes and claims to be a member of Agbekoya, there are questions we will put to him or her. Which unit does he belong. Which operations did he do last. We have the DSS, NSCDC, Immigration and even Prison officials here, we want to know who had been convicted before or who has criminal records.
