The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday handed over the reins of leadership to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee in Abuja.

The event at the headquarters of the party, Wadata Plaza, had governors of the party, Deputy Senate President and other stalwarts in attendance.

However, immediate past Acting National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff was absent as he had travelled out of the country on Sunday.

It would be recalled that barely a week ago, the BoT had taken over the affairs of the party following two concurrent judgments on who should occupy the office between Makarfi and Sheriff.

Speaking at the brief event, Uche Secondus, former deputy national chairman appealed to party members to cooperate with the committee to deliver on its mandate.

“On behalf of members of the former national working committee of the PDP, I am here to handover to the caretaker committee chairman, we are ready to work with you, we are ready to cooperate with you,” he said.
